This One's for the Sparkies Who Do It Right Even When Nobody's Watching
You know the ones.
Still on site at 4pm, redoing a trunking run because it's two millimetres off and it's been bothering you since lunch. Writing up 35 observations on a report that technically only needed five. Testing every circuit, not because the client will know the difference, but because you will.
The ones who hold the trade to a standard that most people in it have quietly stopped expecting.
This is for you.
April 2025. I was grinding through the same cycle every day, finish on site, go home, open the laptop, spend the next three hours fighting software that punished you for doing thorough work. I'd been a software engineer before coming back to the tools, so I couldn't unsee it. The lag, the clunky grids, the manual entry, none of it was inevitable. It was a choice someone made.
So I started building something different. Early mornings, before site, trying to solve a problem that had been making my evenings miserable for months.
I nearly quit five times. Not from boredom, because I couldn't crack the speed. Every version I built worked, technically. But it had lag. Loading spinners. That half-second pause that told you the tool was in charge, not you. To most people that's acceptable. To me it was the whole point. If TestFast felt anything like the tools it was replacing, what was the point? So I scrapped it. And built it again. Five times, until it was buttery smooth on site, in a basement, no signal, whatever.
In October 2025, I posted about it on Reddit. Shared the link, braced for silence, and went to bed. I woke up to 80 sign-ups.
A few months later, a senior assessor from one of the biggest CPS schemes in the UK reached out, unsolicited, to say I'd built something genuinely special. Someone from inside the very institutions whose portals had been making all of us miserable. That was the moment I understood what 330 electricians had already figured out.
TestFast has one job: be the leanest certification tool in the industry for electricians who refuse to cut corners. That means only adding features that genuinely transform your workflow and cutting everything that doesn't. No bloat. No feature graveyard. Just the right things, done right, because that's the only kind of software worth building for the kind of electricians worth building it for.
Keeping the Lights On — Pricing Goes Live 22nd June
I've kept TestFast free for as long as I could. But the server bills, AI costs, and development hours have to come from somewhere. So on 22nd June, pricing goes live. Here's exactly what that looks like.
Free — £0/month. Forever.
If you're only doing a handful of reports a month, I'd rather give them to you than charge per report.
What you get:
- 8 completed reports per month — full reports, no watermarks, ready to send to your client
- 100 bonus credits, one time only — to try the AI-powered features properly
- Unlimited PAT testing reports — free on every plan, forever
A completed report counts the moment you lock and print it, that's when it's a finished, client-ready document. Reports and credits are independent, credits are purely the powerups that help you finish reports faster. You don't need credits to complete a report, you need them when you want NoteScribe OCR or the Observations Builder to do the heavy lifting.
The 100 credits are a one-time bonus to experience what the power features actually do. Once they're gone, you can buy a top-up pack, 1,500 credits for £10. If you're only doing a handful of reports a month and want the occasional speed boost, that works. If you're using the power features regularly, the Standard plan will make more sense.
Standard — £15/month
The full platform, every feature, no restrictions, and 500 credits every month.
In real numbers: 16 reports a month, 20 observations and 10 board circuits each, comes to 480 credits. Under the monthly allowance, with room to spare.
Unlimited reports and the full toolkit, NoteScribe™ OCR, LiveSync™ Bluetooth, Observations Builder, team management, everything.
Need more? Top-up packs are 1,500 credits for £10. Monthly credits reset each month, but top-up credits roll over, so nothing you've bought goes to waste.
Unlimited — £30/month
Everything in Standard with no credit cap — for high-volume work, commercial contracts, and serious job volume.
PAT Testing — Always Free
Every plan. No limits. Not changing.
What Are Credits?
Credits power the features that do the heavy lifting.
1 credit = 1 action:
- One observation through the Observations Builder, rough site note in, properly worded BS 7671 observation out
- One circuit scanned via NoteScribe™ OCR, photograph the board, the schedule builds itself
One action, one credit. No hidden multipliers, no tiers. Every future power feature that earns a place in TestFast will work the same way, and the bar for earning that place is high.
Running a Team? Here's How Seats Work.
On Standard: £5/month per additional seat, each adding 250 credits to your company's shared pool. The whole team draws from the same pot, credits go where the work is, not where you guessed they'd be needed.
On Unlimited: £10/month per additional seat, no credit cap.
Live job board, real-time review, team management, all included. Your name is on those certificates. You should know they're right before they leave site.
If You're a Beta User — Read This Part
You signed up when this was a Reddit post and a promise. You tested it, broke it, told me what was wrong, and stuck around through the rough patches.
If you've completed and locked at least one report on TestFast, you're getting 50% off for life.
Not for a year. For life. You'll receive a one-time coupon code by email before the 22nd. It applies to the Standard plan only, the base seat, no add-ons. Apply it when you sign up and that's your rate, locked in.
One More Thing
A small number of you were here from the very start, reporting bugs at midnight, replying on a Sunday, pushing me when things weren't right. You know who you are.
You'll be getting a separate email from me. That one's just for you.
Everything goes live on 22nd June. Nothing changes before then.
Questions about which plan makes sense, whether the free tier covers you, anything at all, email me at [email protected] or hit the live chat in the app. You'll get me. Not a bot.
Thanks for being part of this. For real.
